21/09/2018 – AI3SD Attends Internet of Food Things Network+ Launch

On the 21st September I (your Network+ Coordinator) and Professor Jeremy Frey (Network+ Principal Investigator) attended the Internet of Food Things Network+ Launch which took place at the IET London: Savoy Place (Institute of Engineering and Technology). . This Network+ is aiming to bring together computer scientists, data scientists, chemists and economists to look at how IoT, AI and other new technologies can be used to improve the digitisation of the UK food supply chain.

The Launch Event consisted of some thought provoking keynote talks by well placed individuals in and around the Food Industry. Food Standards, Blockchain, and using IoT technologies for the Food Industry were key topics that were highlighted at this launch, and the academic leadership team introduced the Network+ and facilitated a panel Q&A Session to discuss relevant issues to the Network+’s research directions.

The official blog post detailing this Launch can be found here: https://foodchain.ac.uk/2018/09/25/introducing-the-internet-of-food-things-network-plus/.
